have a chance to pick up a 1972 stg1 carb 7042242 dose anyone know the correct production code?? trying to verify if carb is authentic.
Check for a machined line where the owner might have milled off another number. And get the date codes.
We don't post Plant Codes in public Forum, and will NOT tell you what they are if you call the shop. Nothing personal, but too many restampings showing up these days. If there is no Plant Code, it's either Service Replacement or a fake. A SR carb will have a later Julian date than the model year run (in almost all cases).....Cliff PS: post a pic or send it to my email, I can smell it from across the room and tell you if it's real or not!
