I finally made the maiden voyage in my Stage 2 powered 1977 Cadillac coupe deville. Now the fine tuning begins
Congratulations!!!!! Reminds of the old Conduit and Fountain Ave. Street race days. Buick’s powered every brand then.
Nice job, Jeff. Good to see the old stage 2 motor is up and running again. That does look like a clean Caddy. Looking forward to seeing it on the street here and at the track next year! I think you've got me in the weight department...
What’s the history on the engine? Iron head stage 2 or TA heads? Was it in another car? Have you weighed the caddy? Love those cars!
that year caddy prob not much heavier than a skylark. when they changed the b and c bodies in 77 they dropped weight being they are basically on the 73-77 regal frame. that 83 lesabre i had was only about 3600 lbs vs my 72 weight 3950. i would guess that a 77 is 4k max. looked it up 4100.
Thanks a lot Paul it's been a long time coming. It's a solid car(California car) it just needs a good paint job.
TA street eliminator (Stage 2). This engine was in my '72 Skylark(11.74@ 115) my '65 Special Deluxe wagon(11.37 @117 coasting from 1000') now the Caddy. Haven't weighed the car yet.
I'm not sure about the weight of the car now, but 4100 lbs. sounds about right as the factory weight, I removed a lot of weight from the car, the 425 Cadillac engine is heavier than the aluminum headed 455, the Cadillac 10 bolt rear was Heavier than the 9" ford rear (aluminum center section)that's in the car now. I put the Caddy on a serious diet. I'm hoping that it weighs between 3800- 4000 lbs. with me in it.
Yeah they arent as heavy as peoole think. Go weigh any new car and you will be shocked compared to this
Today I took the Cadillac for a nice cruise to my friends garage, about 10 miles one way. The car rode nicely on the interstate, (3000 rpms is about 62 mph). As I got off the off ramp I came to a stop light, the light turned green, I rolled along to about 20mph and nailed it, and set the M/T 275 drag radials on fire. Ah the joys of Buick torque and horsepower.
