hey guys, i just bought a new steering column for my 75 skylark. but i cant seem to get the old one out. i removed the 2 bolts and bracket holding it to the dash, removed the 3 bolts holding it to the firewall, and the one bolt that connects tightens the clamp holding the colum to the steering shaft. the column should be removed from inside the car, correct? what am i doing wrong?

    Dan,
Sometimes the shaft is on the splines a little hard. Sometimes a little persuasion is needed to remove it. Giving it a tug toward you sometimes helps,if not maybe gently hit the end on the steering column with a hammer and have someone pull it toward them will do it.Yes, it comes out from inside. Make sure the wires are disconnected on it first.
