I have a problem with my fast idle cam/choke pull off hanging up. I have adjusted the choke pull off lever to provide a positive pull off but the little counter weight/fast idle cam likes to get dirty and hang up. If I hit it with some silicone spray all is good for a few days, until the silicone burns off, then the choke/fast idle cam starts to hang up again. Is there a lubricant that is recommended for this application or is there something else wrong?

Any lubricant will attract dirt. A graphite powder or dry graphite spray may be good. The best thing is to find the cause of the hang up. Try polishing the shaft with scotchbrite, or wrapping some scotchbrite around a small drill and polishing the inside of the cam. Test the cam before and after tightening the attach screw. It should move freely the way it was designed. Good luck

I normally have trouble in the opposite respect: with the cam not properly hooking up on the follower.

The whole fast-idle cam and choke linkage can be removed, there's a single flat-head screw holding it to the side of the carb. I'd take it off, blast it with carb cleaner, and lube the shaft of the cam with some WD-40 or likewise light oil. Check the cam for wear as well, some of them have a brass bushing in the center which can wear out, I've seen some cams with cracks in them.

Thank you both for the feedback. I will take the cam & linkage apart in the near future and check for problems.
