Just to keep this thread alive.................

So anyhow, here's this beer can I found in the garage, (half emptied sometime in the last month), and this Christmas present fabrication that looks like it was designed for this.....

And a defenseless chicken with no other goals in life except to sit in an oven with a beer can up his ass and a potato shoved down his neck....

Oh well, let you know how it comes out! :)

Hey, it's a slow news month...................

    Smoking!

Actually, it was really good! Next time out on the BBQ. Wonder if I should use the dish under it or just put the rack on the grill?

Just looked and there's a huge turkey in the freezer. Have to use a Fosters' Lager in that!

:TU: Beer butt chicken! You would not need the tray under the bird on the grill. As for the turkey, you are better off using the fish frying kettle outside and frying the bird in peanut oil! Be sure to inject your favorite flavoring in before it takes a dive in the oil!

We've done both chicken and turkey this way. Liked the turkey better than the chicken although both were real good. I would use a pan under the bird otherwise you may end up with a charred bird due to the juices dropping into the flame, flarring up and singing the fowl.

Thanks, David. Think you're right on the flaming up part.

    Plan B:

Do the turkey conventionally, drink beer while watching, take temperature every time I go to the fridge. :TU:

Unbelievable when you find a sale for $.29 per pound for a 20#+ turkey. Has been in the freezer since T'Giving time. Always love cleaning out the freezers. :TU:

never seen it done with a potato in the top ? i assume its cut in half before insertion ??

No, you can't say insertion....around this crowd...............

Next time an onion on top.

Turkey sucked. Must have still been partially frozen on the bottom. Threw most of it out. Should have flipped it over in mid cook.
