I'll be there with a small entourage (they are MOPAR guys but we'll make an exception since their cars are on blocks)
Bill is it ok if we set up a canopy and such in the pits??

I wouldn't be able to get there till around noon. I'm sure the gates open early but when does the racing program (eliminations) begin?

They don't even list this event on the Etown site :idea2:

    ITS $25.00 TO GET IN

Gates will open at around 9:30 Am is the latest info I have got. Its tough to say exactly what time. You would probably miss a few qualifying runs but would be able to make eliminations which usually start after lunch time.

Ok, and for my second question, the only 2 non factory appearing items on my car are this, I have hooker super comp headers and I have L60-15's out back, plus i'm running antifreeze coolant. With the antifreeze, would I be alright if I run a catch bottle for the overflow if that were to happen, I've done that in the past and I've gotten through tech when I raced a few years ago? Sorry for all the questions...just wondering if I'm ok with all of that before I plan ahead :TU: .

    1. Arrive at the track preferably by 9:30 AM

Before you race you should always check all the safety rules and complete drag rules regarding running your car.
This is primarily for you First timers and have decided to take the plunge and meet some great people and run with some of the best drivers you will ever see. First...You have nothing to be embarrassed about. This is a event geared towards enjoyment, nobody cares if you spin the tires, don't do a correct burnout or run 17's all day long. The only one watching you is YOU. Everybody else is there to have a good time. Don't sweat it.
    --------------------------------------------

Once you get into the track, you will be in line for the Raceway Park Tech line, they will ask you what class you are participating in, you will say Stock Appearing class or MCE class (please read rules)....they will then ask you how fast you are going to be going, you can say 13-14 seconds. They will ask you if you have a helmet, you must have one. (you can rent one, but do you want to put you head inside someone elses smelly helmet??) Get a Helmet.

Find the rest of the cool looking muscle cars parked in the middle of the parking lot, if you are unsure as of where to park, drive up to the RED STOCK APPEARING DRAGS TENT and they will direct you.

Once parked, find a tall GREAT looking guy with a "Stock Appearing Drags" "STAFF" T-shirt on, that will be me. I will say welcome, give you a goody bag, and TECH your car. I will hopefully be able to tell you what lane you will be lining up in at this point.

A good idea at this point is to take your car around the parking lot a few times, to familiarize yourself with the track layout and more importantly warm up your car.

The announcer will call over the loudspeakers, Stock Appearing Class to the lanes, and
will indicate what lanes to drive into. Drive your car into the designated lane, and now you have entered the biggest portion of the day.......waiting.
    ------------------------------------------------
Once called to race you follow the cars ahead of you through the lanes. As you turn the corner to see the track you will encounter a "staging lanes boss" from Raceway Park. He will instruct you to stop and wait until he gives you the go ahead.

Once you are given the go ahead, you will drive up to the burnout box area, this is also manned by a "burnout box director" who will tell you when to do a burnout. you must wait for his signal. . you MUST obey the burnout box director at all times .

Then do your best at the Christmas tree and press the gas when the light turns green (or yellows). We will be running a PRO TREE this event meaning.........once you stage and light up both yellow staging bulbs, the three ambers illuminate at the same instant with the green then illuminating. press the gas and hang on. after your run, you will have a short time before being called to the staging lanes again to repeat the process until you get 3 qualifing times in.
    --------------------------------------------------

After we get our qualifying runs in, there will be a break and a drivers meeting over at the RED STOCK APPEARING DRAGS TENT. Wait for this annoucement and DO NOT MISS THIS MEETING. This is where you will learn the status of how you did during qualifying and whether or not you made the QUICK 8.

The QUICK 8 is a ET run- off of the 8 fastest cars at the track, it is a ladder format....#1 versus #8....#2 versus #7...#3 versus #6....#4 versus #5.......the winner of the round will come back to face another competitor until there are only 2 cars left. The loser of the FIRST round of QUICK 8 competition can decide to enter into the bracket class if they wish, its your option. But you can only enter the first round of Brackets once with everyone else.

The rest of the field cars number 9------through ????? will then have a bracket style run off, until there is once again only two competitiors left. When running bracket style you must accurately estimate the ET your car will run in the next round. And you must run slightly above that ET which you have written VERY CLEARLY ON YOUR WINDOW.

If at the end of competition the top bracket competitor and the top ET competitor would like to face off in a King of the Hill final Bracket race, then you will recieve a special King of the Hill Trophy from Raceway Park.

There may be other announcements and drivers meetings during the day, so please listen to the track announcements

OLDS442...you will be in MCE class, antifreeze is just a safety measure I like, it is not required by the track, every track wants a catch can so other than that you will be okay there.
