I like all kinds of cars. My favorite are Citroens. I'm a Pontiac guy too. And bringing back the Wildcat and Skylark will do nothing except give more market to our foreign competitors - it's time for America 2.0!:beer

This isn't anything that I haven't experienced on any other board. When someone starts losing the battle of wits, I then am asked, "Is it true you don't even own a Mopar?"

So what you mean to suggest is that not only do I not have the freedom to buy what I want, but I don't have the freedom to congregate with others who appreciate the same machinery?

There's a similar thread of sorts in the Pure Stock room where there's those who stubbornly cling to their cars and Constitution without any regard to the fact that the world is passing us by. You can either put your hand on your heart and sing "god Bless America" [sic] or you can band together and figure out how Detroit can get out of her mess. I can tell you that the "Buy America" mantra is old, stale, and won't pay off.

One of the reasons I like Buicks is because Buick people are so nice.

    Please respect that

Jersey, relax with the keyboard diarrhea, this forum is for ALL topics Buick and or family related... your point was made... your DEMANDS crossed the line.. BTW, I have a GMC, F250, Tundra, 2 BMW's, V12 Benz, Jeep, Audi, Nova, motorhome, various boats.... they each have a specific purpose in my life, and were bought for satisfying such reasons... nobody demanded I buy them... with Buick on the permanant chopping block, you might want to research other methods of transportation that is available, because the Wildcat and Skylark are memories from the past... oh, and you don't need to own a Buick to participate here either... :beer

As you can see by the number of overall posts I have in the many years here I have never acted that way. When you mess with my family that is crossing the line. I may have over reacted and I do apoligize.

I just like to see more people buying american cars. This is my opionion and I do understand we all have one. Please do not attack what I say sentence by sentence.

:gp: Sheesh chill dudes. This is America the good 'ol USA. We can say and buy what we want. Whats the line? I will die for your right to say it.
PS I just traded my daughters Audi for a GMC. (All GM now oh and a Mopar (my son:pp ) I still like and appreciate well engineered cars from around the world! All depends on your needs, if u think u need a 150 Autobahn cruiser to commute with- Go for it. Perceptions need to change, most people I talk to that are not car people say they want a status symbol. What will the neighbors say? Alot of these people cant pay off thier credit cards or keep thier house either. We need to BUILD and be competitive in a world market tho. "Made in the USA" Thats why I voted for Obama at least he says something about the middle class and the work ethic and the AMERICAN DREAM

Not intened to offend any one just one mans view on this very important topic

I got this as an email and its more true that any of you may like to belive :Dou: :Dou:

    Modern Parable.

A Japanese company (Toyota) and an American company (Ford Motors) decided to have a canoe race on the Missouri River Both teams practiced long and hard to reach their peak performance before the race.

On the big day, the Japanese won by a mile.

The Americans, very discouraged and depressed, decided to investigate the reason for the crushing defeat. A management team made up of senior management was formed to investigate and recommend appropriate action.

Their conclusion was the Japanese had 8 people rowing and 1 person steering, while the American team had 7 people steering and 2 people rowing.

Feeling a deeper study was in order; American management hired a consulting company and paid them a large amount of money for a second opinion.

They advised, of course, that too many people were steering the boat, while not enough people were rowing.

Not sure of how to utilize that information, but wanting to prevent another loss to the Japanese, the rowing team's management structure was totally reorganized to 4 steering supervisors, 2 area steering superintendents and 1 assistant superintendent steering manager.

They also implemented a new performance system that would give the 2 people rowing the boat greater incentive to work harder. It was called the 'Rowing Team Quality First Program,' with meetings, dinners and free pens for the rowers. There was discussion of getting new paddles, canoes and other equipment, extra vacation days for practices and bonuses. The pension program was trimmed to 'equal the competition' and some of the resultant savings were channeled into morale boosting programs and teamwork posters.

The next year the Japanese won by two miles.

Humiliated, the American management laid-off one rower, halted development of a new canoe, sold all the paddles, and canceled all capital investments for new equipment. The money saved was distributed to the Senior Executives as bonuses.

The next year, try as he might, the lone designated rower was unable to even finish the race (having no paddles,) so he was laid off for unacceptable performance, all canoe equipment was sold and the next year's racing team was out-sourced to India .

    Sadly, the End.

Here's something else to think about: Ford has spent the last thirty years moving all its factories out of the US, claiming they can't make money paying American wages.

TOYOTA has spent the last thirty years building more than a dozen plants inside the US. The last quarter's results:

TOYOTA makes 4 billion in profits while Ford racked up 9 billion in losses.

Ford folks are still scratching their heads, and collecting bonuses:af: :af: ... and now wants the Government to 'bail them out'.

IF THIS WEREN'T SO TRUE IT MIGHT BE FUNNY :af: :af:

I am a Canadian and if any one cares to look at a map :eek2: the car industry in Canada is as close to the USA as anywhere across the river from Dertoit is Windsor ( less than 1/2 mile ) so any thing that affects the good old USA is as important to Canada. When you lump in Canada as not made in the USA I belive you are wrong :puzzled: as it all started at the same time we have had the Autopac and are linked as one to the USA.:TU: Now Mexico is another story they were used as LOW cost Labour not quality labour. In fact Plants in Canada cost more to run because we pay a little more in over all cost.
I belive we should be supporting the industries and companies that support US and Candian jobs not Companies that send all the work that WE are trained for over seas, and to third world countries were they do not have the same standras for workers rights and benifits that we ( Canada and the USA ) have shared for over 100 years

If you take this as I do not support American cars then you are sadly mistaken. As you see i own many Buicks and have had more of North American cars than probaly most of you have even driven in (300+).

I refuse to support any Company that says on one hand BUY American then sends all the workers JOBS to third world countries but keeps the profits to pay there managment staff stupid wages and bonuses:af: and then abandons the very people it is pleading with to keep there own high paying jobs:af: These same companies , GM FORD, CHRYSLER has no problem closing many plant here in Canada and the USA only to send those workers incomes away when we need the money here to support our familes

Fire the managment re hire North American workers ( Canadian and American ) and lets get back to reality Support whom ever will allow you to support your familes and bring prosperity back the Canada and the USA

We are in together wake up and see the facts :TU: not the hype

    just my rant

    Ken
