    All:

I need inside storage for my 2 Buicks from now until August.

Anyone have tips outside the traditional U-Store-it (for loads of dough)

    Thanks

    dualqwad ...just another lost soul

I had to go through this problem a few months back and here's some info that might be useful.
I don't know about back there in Illonois, but out here there's always people renting out their 2-car garages to store cars in.
Some of them can be cheaper (per sq.ft.) than the typical U-Stor-it facilites.
Try browsing through some of the local papers in the real estate rentals section since thats usually where people advertise their garages for rent.
Typically those rentals are for STORAGE ONLY and if you're looking for a work space too then you might want to consider a small industrial unit with a month-month rental.
That might be a slight cost increase but it could become justifiable if you plan on doing any sort of service or repair work on your cars.
It certainly did in my case.
I hope you can find what you're looking for. :TU:

    Thanks for the reply

    Thanks Robert.

That is actually what I've been doing for the last year. I sold my home and offered to rent the guy's entire home. However, he tried to shake me down which I politely declined.

This guy has been my neighbor for 5 years and we have been on great terms. He relocated 1+ years ago and has had any empty home the entire term. Since he can't get his px from a buyer, I thought he could use the cash and avoid the overhead of maintaining the property. I guess not.

He called me back to actl friendly but only was interested in my situation so he could exploit me and get his price. He has purposely slow played me to paint me in a corner due to my moveout deadline. I finally made the decison to move in with my family and pay the cost of storage. The neighbor, no doubt, will ask me to clean out of his garage once he realizes I have moved on.

There is plenty of commercial space, but the cost relative to $$ value of the cars is almost silly. If I could find a spot in someone's out building or garage that would be great.

It's just a matter of finding someone who will be respectful of my cars/tools.

Thanks again for the advice! :beer

Well, I got lucky as my cousin has a nice heated garage in Valpo Indiana. Thats where I put mine. Other then mooching off family like I did, you might want to look into places that store boats. Alot of times they'll do cars as well. Most of the time they are heated to 50 degrees or so.
