ARS does a great job with the videos...but at the same time, it's a bid saddening to watch that, seeing as Gateway closed it's doors last month. All we can do is make the best of the move to a different location for SCR14...
Being as George died recently, that place seems in peril as well...his widow was running it last I knew. The only *good* thing is that the track sits in a pretty $hitty locale, so there isn't a lot of demand for the land... Cheater...
I just got a spare few minutes to finally watch the finished SCR13 dvd...if there was any doubt left about whether or not some of these rare cars actually get driven hard, then some of the in-car video is a must see. A Yenko Camaro shells the ring/pinion of it's Dana 60(!), and a *still* original owner ZL-1 Camaro [former SS/B car] gets hammered through the gears, on the very same engine/rebuild that won him the '70 US Nationals! Plus lots more... Free plug time...here's the folks that did the SCR13 video, as well as many other auto events: ARS Promotions
Good deal. Close to home for me. Nice track, the only downside is decent lodging is a little far. Will you still have an indoor show, or will it be outside at the track ?
Being the first year @ a new venue, we opted for a 1-day affair...but we have the entire facility Friday, during the day and into the evening. However, they're really wanting some of us to stick around and fill a couple lanes on Saturday, 9-4 I believe, during their weekly event. With the move and late venue comfirmation we have several of the details to iron out still, so I can't answer all the questions. But we're listening to suggestions...:TU: Rt. 66 seems to have some pretty big visions for the next 2-3 years...
Would there be any interest from any FAST/Factory Stock racers in doing something @ Joliet? As in the past, there's an open invitation to y'all [just holler and let me know you're coming] but is there interest in anything more organized than that?
We would bring a Factory Stock car to that for sure. Would not even need a trailer since it is only a 20 minute ride. I am sure there are more Chicago people interested I just don't think they are responding yet. The best part of route 66 is that they use so much V.H.T. you can smell it all the way up in the grandstands!!:3gears:
