I think I know the answer, but will a 66 ST400 behind a 401 bolt up to a 455? My Nailhead is stuck, (not sure how bad) and may go for more Mojo in a 455, for my 54 Chev S.D.:beer

    no the 66 s.t. 400 has a different bolt pattern than the 455,you`d have to get a 67-up 400.

    Thanks

I could be wrong but I think it will work. In 66 Buick, Olds and Pontiac all used the same pattern or so I thought. I will check on this and get back.

`66 Buick`s still had the Nailhead engines which had the different bolt pattern than the `67 and later motors.

Why change the trans too? Just fix the nailhead and keep your trans. A 455 is not that much stronger than a good nailhead.

To answer your question directly, your 66 nailhead trans is a different bolt pattern than the 67-up style. It will not work with a 455.
