Discussion in 'Small Block Tech' started by 72buick95poncho, Mar 9, 2003.

  1. I am a complete newbie, but does any other company besides T/A performance make a set of headers to fit my 72 skylark 350? also can anyone tell me the stock HP/TQ for these? thanks guys!

Poston Enterprises makes headers for the 350 1-800-635-9781. A stock 350-4V in 72 made 175 HP and 275 lb.-ft. torque and that is SAE net figures. The 350-2V made 155HP and 265 torque, I believe. BTW, what is your name, we like to know who we're talking to:grin:

yea hp dropped dramiatically for the 72'2 the it was like a 60 hp drop the 71's were like 260- for a 4 bbl and the 70's were 285 i think

I think hooker makes a set of headers for the 350.

hooker does make headers for the 350.

you can get chrome TA headers for less than the price of painted hookers, though, last i checked (if you can even find them, that is).

  6. cool thanks guys anyone know a rough guess on the price of the poston headers? I am def. in line for a rebuild (oil consumptoin) what route should I go 455 or stay with the 350 this car is gonna be show and go, I'd like to turn a 12 sec. pass with 100 shot of juice, I've found that dart makes a set of heads for the 350 anyone know anything on these? or would i be better to stay with stock ported heads? sorry for all the questions!:Dou:

I'm curious, why don't you want to use the TA Headers? I'm quite sure that TA has very competetive pricing on headers $269 for raw, $289 for chrome.

Dart does NOT make heads for a BUICK 350. They are a CHEVY small block head that uses the Buick V6 stage head port configuration.

The TA headers are good. I got the chrome ones on mine. Fit like a glove, perfect! Good price to... if you're trying to find some $99 headers, you won't... and even if you could, beleive me, you get what you pay for.

Do the TA headers fit without any problems for a '70 GS 350 4-speed? I was just curious whether anything got in the way after installation.

i have hookers as well, the column shift linkage bangs into them by the tranny, but they probably would on any header. otherwise the fit is good, even around the steering shaft.

Flatlanderracing does have them advertised as a Buick head, so it seems that even they are confused!!

I believe that this is my first post here at V8buick.com....... I've got a 69 LeSabre with a 350.

I have had the same set of Hookers on my Lark for 16 YEARS!

They fit awesome. I can pull the starter out without touching the header. Stick linkage is No Problem :) No problem with oil dipstick tube either.

  16. Phil

Phil It really *is* a 350...

I've had the Hooker Super Competition Headers in my 72 since 1990 and they're a little rusty but still solid. There wasn't any linkage interference when I had the column shift and you can take the starter off without any issues. Same with the dipstick.

I also made a point to use ARP stainless steel header bolts. The ones for the SBC fit and you won't regret the purchase when it comes time to change a header gasket.

my header bolts were labeled BBC, not sure if they're the same or not. thread is right (3/8 if i remember right) and there's 3/4 of thread. i think i could use longer ones, though.

not sure why i have problems with the shift linkage (well, i don't anymore..i rammed it into the header so many times it's made a notch for it). might have to do with the 200r4 in my car, but the column linkage looks stock...last owner swapped it, so i donno.

Roger that. SBC bolts are exactly the same and Stainless is definately the way to go.
