This approval gives you full access to the site, to pictures, and to post, among other things. To be able to enjoy the full potential of the board for you, you need to be fully registered.. and that's easy.. Just send an email to me at jim@trishieldperformance.com and I will verify your registration. This policy will remain in effect indefinitely, as it has completely eliminated the bad actors from our site, who would spam and hack it, once they gained access. Thanks JW

Taking apart the AC, questions

I have two 69's with air. Both cars are coming apart, and in the end I will have one nice one. Anyhow, is there any precautions to taking apart the AC? What about storage of the parts, do you plug the tubes. Neither car has ran in 15 years, one will never run again a blown 350. One will run again with air, so I want to perserve the parts for what will be at least a two year restoration. Hard to tell if either system is charged, can you recoop the R12 without them running? I would hate to add to the whole ozone thing.

    Any comments are apreicated.

    Thanks,

    Rich

if you intend to reuse any of the ac parts... the better idea would be to just take comp and condesor loose and swing those out of the way. pull motor and fenders(or at least the pass side -- inner and outer still together -- out at once)and pull the a/c box out in tact(both sides screwed together still). thus prevent you from opening the system and contaninating it. another advantage is keeping refrigerant inside along with a known amount of comp oil. ready to install in the next car.
