    Sound like a 1970 Olds trans.

    The longer number you gave is the cars VIN it came from. The E in The ViN indicates it was a Linden NJ built car.

    In case you're wondering how Duane and Dave decoded the numbers:

    Tag:
    70 = 1970 Model year
    O = Olds division
    D = Application
    2993 = serial number for this model (OD) of transmission.

    VIN derivative:
    3 = Olds division
    0 = 1970 model year
    E = Linden, NJ final assembly plant (where the car was assembled, not the trans)
    05902 = Car's sequence number, matches the VIN, should be 6 digits.

    An on-line reference (of questionable accuracy) I just checked says the 1970 "OD" TH-400 was used in Cutlasses (but not 442s) with 455. This might have included wagons. If it's important to you, I could research further.

    Cutlass was available with 455 in SX model. That is what it could be for. My brother is looking for one of those. Wish you were closer. He could make you an offer.
