Hello, I asked this before, but got no answer, so I'll try again. Can a performer be easily modified to fit Stg.1 TE heads? Or is extra Al meat required on the top of the manifold's intake ports?
Thank you, wether ya' know or not.

I very much doubt you could, or would want to, make a performer work with that head.

Using that intake would really kill the performance advantage of those heads.

What kind of build do you have in mind?

    hello

I have a $down at TA for the Stg. 1 SE heads. TE heads are avaliable now. If it was just me porting the intake like crazy I'd go for it. For now I'd consider putting it on my mildly built 455 in my 73GS. I am building a short block, slowly, to go under the heads. I have collected forged pistons, standard 73 short block, some grooved cam bearings, etc. I changed the intake on the current motor recently, the intake ports on the stock heads are so poor & disfigured they look like blems or something. Port #'s 1 & 8, about 1/2 way down the port, the side wall starts to cut in towards the floor. My last 2 69 GS's had ported stg.1 heads, compression, and cam. They felt so much faster. This one is a low compression stock headed TA212 455. It has serious torque, it feels like it is a really fast car-until you floor it and not much happens. I'd like to make it feel at least some what silly fast & buy some time while a really silly short block is slowly being born. Definetly an SP-1 in the future. I want the final motor to be as fast as possible for my short drive to work, rip the 200r4 to pieces.
    Thanx for the needed info/help.

But at only $100 difference btwn the SE and the TE it seems worth it to go with the TE for the investment. Are there any disadvantages in using the TE for that type of application besides needing the correct intake? Not very streetable? At some point I plan on beefing up the 430 I put in a 3rd gen camaro I have and was planning on using stg. 2 TE heads and a SP-2 intake. This car would be for a fun ride to work when weather permits(no AC) and run at the track.

    Hello

OK, the TE idear is out of my Al head (hu hu)-makes things simpler. Thanx Jim. Hey, 69RivieraGS-love the idea of a Buick in a Chevy-so classic! Anyone ever seen factory cast iron heads like the ones I explained?
    Thanx all again.
