This approval gives you full access to the site, to pictures, and to post, among other things. To be able to enjoy the full potential of the board for you, you need to be fully registered.. and that's easy.. Just send an email to me at jim@trishieldperformance.com and I will verify your registration. This policy will remain in effect indefinitely, as it has completely eliminated the bad actors from our site, who would spam and hack it, once they gained access. Thanks JW

Ten years in the making

Ten years ago I bought my first car, a 70 skylark custom, black interior with buckets, 350/th350. Drove it for a few years, then tore it apart. Big dreams and no money left me with a half restored rolling shell. 4 years ago, it got put into a storage unit. 4 years later, I have the knowledge needed to proceed and she's finally back home.
Two years ago I decided I wanted another car to play with, so I built the Turbostang. It's an 87 Notchback mustang with a 5.3l, carb conversion, ls6 top end, and a big ass 76mm turbo backed by a th350. Drove it around all year and decided I really have no need for two cars.
So I'm thinking its time for a heart transplant

The combo put down 320 on 8 lbs, untuned. Aiming for 5-600 to the wheels on 18lbs with an efi conversion and tune

LS is goin in the lark
    Well, went.
Bolted the engine up for the final time today. Went back to my old powerglide and had it rebuilt, re-using the trans brake with a new 4k Stall tci converter and some upgrades to the trans. Ended up having to build a new hot side for the turbo, the mustang stuff wasn't gonna work. Settled on keeping the victor Jr intake and using a throttle body elbow and fuel rails for that intake. Repaired the rust on my core support with a patch kit, converted the car back to automatic and built a little console for my pro stick shifter. Traded the mustang for everything else I need for efi, injectors, wiring harness, a tune, ecm, etc. called it quits tonight after racking my brain trying to figure out how to mount and run the intercooler and piping

Cool deal! I'm admittedly a bit of a purist as far as putting Buick motors in Buick cars, but given your situation I can't say I blame you. Neat piece, keep us informed.

I'd like to cage it at some point. I'll see how it all goes this winter, probably cage it and do the bodywork.
i must have been overthinking the intercooler last night because I got it figured out today
