Today is a very sad day in America. The fact we can starve a human being to death with the sanctioning of our courts sickens me. As far as I'm concerned her cruel husband has gotten away with legal murder. That heartless *astard made her family leave the room so that they couldn't even be there with her as she passed away. :af:

Rule of law and acts of congress aside, this is the saddest thing I have ever witnessed in my lifetime besides 9-11 and I will never forget the hurt this man has caused Terri's family. I can only hope they can forgive.........I will never forget. This crosses the line between good and evil, and underscores our nations need to pray.

I have changed my signature and will leave it that way for a while in Terri's honor.

I worry more about this country when pandering two-faced politicians get involved in an issue like this, simply to further their political goals, when their past actions show they really don't believe what they are doing.

Dubya signed a bill in 199 thay said hospitals could pull the plug on incapacitated patients regardless of their wishes or relative's wishes if thye couldn't pay the bills? And NOW he has the balls to say "all life in any from is sacred"? Puuuuleeeze.

I mean, c'mon. The Schiavos all say that they would have carried on this same court battle even if Terri had put it in writing that she wanted to die -- it's in the Guardian's report linked to in the other thread (a guardian appointed by Jeb Bush, I might add.) Doesn't that shed a little light on their motivations? They cared about themselves, and their sense of loss, but admitted they would put it ahead of their daughter's right to live and die with dignity.

The parents also say that if she got diabetes, they would amputate a leg, an arm, all limbs, just to keep her alive. They said they would perform open-heart surgery to keep her alive. (Same report) That is repulsive no matter how you spin it.

Basically, they just refused to let go under any circumstance. They needed to get real a long time ago. Now I guess they are forced to.

Yeah, starvation is a gruesome way to go. But is suffocating when they pull the plug on a respirator any different? Like any of us want to suffocate, either.

No Michael Schiavo isn't counting his money. he didn't get much. The people who are gonna make are the one's collecting for her defense -- her parents. They are probably counting the money all the way to her funeral. Make some big bucks off a movie, get paid for some interviews -- I see their plan now.

(Note: I don't necessarily believe the paragraph I just wrote -- but it is no more scurrilous and untruthful than what is being said about Michal Schiavo. Just food for thought.)

And even the parents said Michael was as devoted a husband as they could imagine for the first seven years of her incapacitation (Same report). Gee, maybe it took him that long to give up and go along with her wishes.

What if your wife had told you to "pull the plug" in the same circumstances? Would you do it the first day? The first week? the first month? No, it would take you a while, too. it'd take me a damn long time, that's for sure. Maybe only a year, maybe two, probably not seven.

Michael Schiavo did the right thing. The parents should be ashamed. As should Jeb, Dubya, and all the other pandering right-wing hypocrites that interfered in a private matter and removed whatever dignity was left in the life and death of an unfortunate woman by turning it into a media circus.

Sounds to me like she has been dead for about 15 years! Not because they pulled the plug or tube.

She was dead the moment her brain quit working, her body just didn't know to shut down. It's sad, but she can finally be at peace now. Unless any of you know Micheal Schaivo personally, you can't(or shouldn't) judge him. You have NO idea what he was going through. A friend of my mom's had to take her brother off life support, per his wishes, because of severe brain damage. I GUARANTEE this was not an easy decision.

Sometimes, doing the wrong thing for the right reason and doing the right thing for the wrong reason come together.I feel bad for Terri's family and the fact she was starved to death. Its never an easy thing to do something like this.I agree with Trey, If you didn't know the complete story as well as the persons involved, its really none of our business. We wont have to be the one who has lived and still will be living with the outcome. In my opinion, its time to let the fight rest and move on to a more positive thing.God be with Terri as well as her family and husband.

    Steve,
Everyone is entitled to his opinion but I would really like to know why in every one of your replies regardless of what forum, revolves completely around your obvious hatred for George Bush. Regardless of what you may think he is not responsible for every single problem in this country. Your party is crumbling. The people spoke. Get over it. Please! It's getting old.

    Hey Steve,
Your blaming Bush for every problem in this country in every thread is getting old. Your party got spanked. Wake up and get a dose of reality.
    Please! It's getting old.

Yeah, I aint too fond of Dubya, but he really did happen to provide the best example of the hypocrisy going around amongst our nation's politicians on this subject. If I had a good example of some other leading figure being blatantly inconsistent, I would have used it too, but since Dubya wanted to be the front man, he was an easy target.

If I am wrong about the inconsistency, please point out where.

Like I also posted before, the pope, at least is consistent -- life is life and it is all sacred, be it the unborn, the unconscious, or someone on death row.

    Steve,
Are you telling me that you would vote for those who repeatedly prove they don't respect life simply because they are being consistant in their warped thinking?

If your asking if I'd vote for Dubya, the answer is no.

So, am I reading your comments correctly that you only agree with the Pope's consistency of claiming that all life is sacred but you do not feel that way yourself?
