th400 whats best years too get for skylark 455

    hello I was wondering what year are the best for th400 short tail shaft too rebuild behind a 455 500-575hp 1970 skylark my gearing will be 342 ? in 12 bolt

    alec296 i need another buick

    70 and newer should be good, but i would build a 350 trans if more street then strip and keep it around 500

    Pretty much any year as long as you up grade the sprag they are known to break under to much stress..Other than that they are a strong Transmission..

    i have the same question i have a 71 350 and 71 400 to go behind a 500hp 455 which trans do i use an how do i set it up?
