My wife & I got to partake in the *experience* that was a flooded I-94...I guess we were there early on in the problem, so we literally sat for HOURS, just so we could get to the next exit...took 13 hours to get to Stanton, 17 hours to get home...! We got home just after midnight, just in time to get a couple hours of sleep before the remnants of "Ike" rolled through, and blew down trees, powerlines, and everything else not bolted down...we're used to gusts & twisters here in the midwest, but I never get used to those insane sustained winds. We finally got power back after lunch, but a lot of the town & county is still without it...lots of BIG timber down.

    Hi Everyone,

Bob and I want to thank everyone for braving the weather to attend the race. Who knew that a hurricane would come ashore in Texas on Friday, and affect our weather on Saturday:Do No: Weather forecasts looked promising earlier in the week, but boy did they change at the last minute. Being racers, these are the lumps we take from time to time. In the fourteen years Bob and I have done this race, this was our first rainout. I guess we can be thankful about that. We hope everyone arrived home safe and sound.

Again, thanks for all your kind words. That's what keeps Bob and I going with this! (We are already working on next year's event on September 18th and 19th.)

    Dan,

Thanks again for continuing this event. I was really down in the dumps early last week when it became obvious that my car wasn't going to be ready (first timer). I went anyway on Friday with the bad weather pretty much 100% guaranteed and had a great time. Wandering the pits, talking with everybody, and watching the late PM runs made me feel a lot better and more determined NOT to miss next year!

Many thanks to Dan and Bob, the Remlingers for the grassy pits buffets, and all the chefs at the Comfortable Inn Friday night. Even the rain delay Friday causing the abbreviated test and tune/qualification and the cancellation Sunday (Thanks for doing it early so we could get a jump on getting home before ir got too bad for some of us)..... don't deter from the total event when it's all put together.

This was my last race with the Ramrod and time to retire it and hopefully give it the cosmetic attention that it greatly needs. I reflected on the last race being a rain out, but realized I got to spend more time visiting and talking with friends that I didn't get when running the car.

I'm not giving up on Pure Stock, still going to try to sort out that engine on the black car and even though going up for sale immediately (not cheap) I intend to enter it at Martin and also the Stanton event next year. I'll be there anyway maybe with a Pure Stock golf cart.

    Again, thanks to all.

    Dave:beers2:

Thanks to Bob and Dan and crew. Even with the weather I was still VERY much looking forward to coming and talking with people that I get to see in person maybe once or twice a year. The new rear axle and suspension bushings, polyglas and shifter tweaks were never really tested since the car decided to develope either a fuel pump issue or more valve spring problems. Only made two runs and decided to park it. I also confirmed the clutch is going out. Guess my winter list ($$$$) is getting longer and longer. We'll see if we can get it squared away for next Sept.

We too got delayed by I-94 being closed at mile marker 34 in Indiana. Ended up doing a u-turn on the interstate (didn't hit the concrete median with the trailer) and took some other roads. Got back on I-94 at mile marker 26 and everything was fine. I-94 is still closed as of this morning at Kennedy Ave. in Indiana.

    Rich C.,
The bug bit Luke long before Stanton. He was also helping me with the rear axle and mounting the polyglas for the GT-37. Stanton just solidified his need to get a toy and play next year. He's been looking at cars and will probably end up looking at one next week thats basically right around the corner from where I sit as I type this.

I'm starting to doubt my sanity, as I know we still gotta get the Sc/rambler updated for next year, and I'll probably be helping you and Kevin out some as well...

all I need is one of my own to add to the chaos :Dou: Hoping that car around the corner is still available. I'm really liking it :D

Thanks YOU, Dan and Bob. Did it suck not running a car this year? Yes. Did I get to see more of the action then in years past? Hell yes! Was it great hanging out with everyuone? OH YEAH! I was also happy to help out in the tech line. The night racing was definitely cool but it WOULD screw up the schedule. Dan, if theres anything I can help with just give me a shout. I'm just down the road, as you already know. This is number one must do event on my calender, as I am sure it is with other guys/gals out there. I've been hooked since 2003!

Kudos to Dan, Bob and Dennis for making this a great event. This was my first race after watching last year.

Well worth the wait Friday. Now I know what I need to sort out on the car and will be ready next year.

Thanks to Don Harber, Curt Richards and Chris Moorhead for the nice peer pressure and help getting my car "pure stock" this past winter.
