The Facts on Reproduction Parts

I now find that I understand the manufacturers of reproduction parts. As we all know, we are finally getting some parts made for our cars. I have worked for over a year with the manufacturer, AMD, and they have produced some of the highest quality parts that I have seen. Not only for our Buicks, but also Mopars and other GM products. They have been great to work with and have a desire to produce hoods, fenders and doors along with lots of small parts. Their website is Autometaldirect.com and you can visit and see the products as they update their website. Their prices on the site are list as they prefer to sell through dealers, however the dealers must have a large buyin to qualify fo dealer status.

There are other companies carrying their products through e-bay, websites and catalogs and that is a good thing because I don't know everyone with a Buick (even though I would like to). We (and they) were counting on Bowling Green to jump start the sales of their products and the flood threw a wrench in that plan. So I offered a deal on shipping to help everyone.

Now the truth. If these products don't sell sufficiently, they will not make anything else new, nor any more runs of what they have made. We all want the parts for our cars, now we need to support the company that made the parts. That is the reason for my below retail prices for you guys and the freight deal. That is all from Then & Now. Granted it is a selfish reason, I need these parts to re-build more GS cars. So my plea with all who need parts or may need parts, buy..buy ..buy. Great sales will entice more parts production.

I want to thank everyone for their purchases already made and future. Lets back these guys and all who seek to manufacture and produce parts for us.

Oh Yeah, found out the other day that I am going to be a grandpa in November.:)

I hope that they sell enough to make it work.
I'm no help since they only do 70 - 72 cars.

Mark---You might consider also posting this thread in "The Bench" section as it may get more "eyeballs" there.

Mark, I applaud you for putting forth such great effort to get these parts made and many of us hope it can continue for your and all the Buick fans benefit. Last Friday, June 4, I had owned GSX #14 for 15 years, thanks to many friends, and keen eye for NOS or like stuff, I have almost everything I needed to do the deal(total resto underway, Jan 13, 2010) As we continue the work to get it done for the Stage 1 reunion, we often talk about how you are doing with the new buick parts and wish you all the best.

NOW, the important part is that these '70-'72 parts do well, so there's a need for '68-69 parts, cause there were more of them than any other GS!
I have for use for making replacement outer inner rear fender wells for them, an NOS piece that I would make available. But we have to make the new Buick '70-2 parts available now a market valuable enough for all the folks to continue production and entice them to do the same for the 'other' ones, '68-9, the '66-7, '65, and maybe even '73!! I have one of them too! and an NOS qtr panel!
PS(no it's not for sale, Phil)

How can I offer my services, without competing with other manufacturers here, but to help anyone/everyone who has an idea for improving parts or making parts available, but don't know who to ask?

I am a manufacturers' representative with a company that has over 30 years experience in more industries than I ever realized even existed!

I have access to these services, just to name a few, among others:
    CAD (Solidworks 3-D drawing)
    CNC
    Laser cutting & engraving
    Waterjet fabrication
    Plastic Injection Molding
    Metal Injection Molding
Printed Circuit Boards & Electronics components & assembly
    Vinyl graphics & decals
Custom packaging & printing (blisterpacks, printed logos on boxes/containers, etc.)

I'd be glad to discuss any project with anyone who's interested, and not limited to automotive, but also:
    Agriculture (brackets, fittings, etc.)
Firearms accessories (pistol grips, handguards, rails, etc.)
    Aviation/Aerospace
    Military contracting

    Mark, I am with you.

More importantly, when a reproduction part is made, MAKE IT CORRECTLY!!!!!!!
    Case in point,
Boxed lower control arms- yellow zinc plated bushings??
Front upper control arms- nylon lock nuts on the shaft ends???
Turn signal lever- 1.25" longer than original??

    on and on

These are just a few samples of non-correct details that would cost NO more to make than making them correctly.
Bottom line, check the return policy from where you buy. Deal with parts sellers/makers who strive to make the parts right.
