The final straw martin 2012

I have a question for the martin race organizers (Dave and Terry), I watched as 4 cars were called to be heavy teched behind Terry's trailer late in the day on Friday, it was a hemi feast, as bk, Rick Mahoney , jim Keyes and Copo pete's car were the only cars that the got the honor of the p&g and spring pressure check, which I hear we're for the most part pretty much in line with the rules.

What was the rational behind the cars that were chosen? Btw the 4 cars were qualified I believe #2,3,4,5? Please correct me if I am not right on anything written here.

Did any car owners refuse to be teched?

Terry- why in the hell would you subject yourself to not having Julie's car put through the heavy tech when you qualified #1

While I am at it, how come some of the quick 8 cars had the dots marked on the tires at tech, but the dot's were gone by Saturday ?

The event was well run, no lines, great food from team NY and Canada and great racers!

Terry pulled Julie's car apart once before. Even gave the cam to somebody to check. It was and I'd bet, still legal. Nobody who knows him thinks he cheats.

tom, I had a great time, I could not handle the heat and my car hauler was ready to go.

What happens at last years, last month or last week has zero to do with each race, it all starts over each and every race. What would happen if NASCAR did not tech every week?

I hope somebody answers the question, tom clarified the Oder of qualifying cars that were teched,

Okay Jeff and Tom I'll answer your questions Julie's car has been tech more than any other car in the pure stock racing series if you look at ET's from 2006 at Stanton Julie ran a 11.54 in 2006 right after that I tore the motor part handed over the camshaft so fast forward all the way up to 2011 last fall She went 11.48 that's only 6 100's quicker since the time that I pulled the motor apart and handed over to camshaft. So I thought It might be interesting to look at all the other top cars from 2006 and to my surprise they were all quite a bit quicker in 2011 one half a second quicker one 3/10 of a second quicker and one just over 2/10 of a second quicker and get this Julie's 6/100 of a second quicker between 2006 and 2011 At Stanton so all the top cars at Stanton from 2006 to 2011 it's had the lowest gain in ET now as far Martin last year after the 11.29 pass I had Dave Dudek come over and check her car at my asking he checked Spring pressure went for a ride he saw the transmission shifted on its own I jacked it up so you can climb underneath it I took off the fuel line so he could see that when I cranked it over the fuel would pulse to show that there is no electric fuel pump he looked in the fuel tank to make sure that there was no fuel-cell and in 2012 the car goes 4/100s quicker Make no mistake her car has been in every single tech session since I built that car there hasn't been one tech session that her car hasn't been in and at the next race in Lebanon Valley it can have the same tech at those other cars just had at Martin and at Stanton all five of the L88 Corvettes In my pits can have the same tech.

So by your reasoning the next time I pull up to a DUI checkpoint I can tell the officer I was checked in 2006 and I'm good to go right?

You are in position of leadership Terry, I would think you would WANT to lead by example. I sure wouldn't ask anyone else to tech if I myself wasn't willing to, let alone the fact you are number one qualifier. You gave Rick,Peter,Bob and Jim the oppurtunity to make a claim that you now can not. Tech is not only to validate the racer but also the organization. If the class fails I think we all fail.

Various cars have been questioned over the past several years regarding their legality. One thing that I noticed is that when,or if, the owners or other interested parties respond, they will claim that they have been teched or it passed tech. In my memory, nobody has defended themselves and said "my car is 100 % legal per the rules as written.

What is not said, is often very telling.

Terry or Dave have not answered the questions that i asked in my first post. was Julies car asked to be teched and refused? Or did you guys decide not to tech her car? What about the tire dots?? Tom Cannon is right on, history means nothing, you guys have destroyed the credibility of the event by not teching the number 1 qualifier, especially when it is the event organizers car. I would love to find another 3 tenths in my car now that i have built it to the limit of the rules. Have the 60 foot times gone down to gain the 3 tenths?? what explanation can there be to making it stocker and picking up 3 tenths in 96 degree temperatures. The bald tires is out of hand and not safe.

Wait a minute...I thought it was physically impossible to measure the compression and spring pressure on a Hemi?! :pp

Just how much strength does additional tread above a tire casing give? It doesn't seem logical that the strength is in the tread and not in the cords. If the cords were showing, it would be a different story. I seem to recall someone cutting a tire sideways to show how much rubber there was even when the wear bars were showing.

    Any pictures out there?

    12).126 Edward Keim 69 427 Camaro 12.2727 114.36

See what my mom (Julie) went last year? This year she went a 11.25 I dont see how some of you guys say she picked up a couple tenths from last year. And it was said before Martin 2011 Dave came over and looked at the car because people were complaining. You must be comparing last years Stanton ET. Hell the car went slower from last years Martin race to Stanton. Stanton doesnt hook at all, even with a couple hundred potatoes in the trunk! So the car is going to be slower from Martin to Stanton. And see car number 12 Edward Keim, Martin 2011 he went a 12.27 this year 2012 martin event he went a 11.9... something i believe it was a .93 and his car was the exact same from 2011 to 2012. But I guess since his car is orange and he pits with us hes probably a cheater too.

    Jeff, Tom, and anyone else

Julie's car was not on the list too be tech but now I see that that I should have thrown into the tech circle no matter what so at the Leabon Valley race it will have the same tech that the cars Martin just did, it will also back up the numbers it ran at the Martin race last weekend or maybe run faster just give me some time I'll show you I have nothing to hide it was a big mistake On my part not to throw it into the tech circle.

Thats it !! Ed your a cheater... hahahaha HMMmmmm ,the secret is orange !

My cars couldn't hook at Stanton if I used vecro on the tires the last couple years !! Martin is usually pretty consistant first day, awesome, second day not bad. Can't be to bad - Scott got air under the left front tire friday Morning in the white bird.

    Good post Terry...

We have teched more cars & harder than any other race over the past 3 years, it always bites us in the azz one way or the other.. moral of the story, do nothing, your 10 times better off, everybody leaves happy.

How many times do you have to stick a scope up somebodies A$$ , just to see it's still brown??
Terry I still love the Idea you had of showing up with a piston and rod out . Mic the rod journal and rod lenght - look at the piston and put it together. Would of made some people scratch there head. Especially since the cam you ran , then handed over to inspectors was a factory cam.!! Lets see ANY other brand do that.
