Sorry if this has been discussed. I did query it first. I am replacing the Chevy 305 some prior halfwit (as opposed to the current halfwit) put in my 69 Skylark, with a SBB 350 that I am currently rebuilding. So I have no clues from my own car to go by. I’ve also scanned through dozens of sbb engine compartment photos I save from random posts as reference, and can’t find an answer. Maybe some of you SBB gurus will know: Why do I see bolt stud extensions on some sbb thermostat housings like mine in the attached pic? Wire hold down or something? If it was a 4 barrel engine, the factory put those studded bolts in regardless as they probably didn't know if the engine was going into a GS or not.
Yeah, a 1972 4 bbl Lesabre engine. Makes sense that they would just use the same bolts across many years and specs. I will save them for someone that might need them for an accurate restoration. I’m going to replace them with stainless hex head bolts for my build. Thanks for responses. Learned something new.
Mike Garrison reproduces those bolts and the support bracket. https://mrbuick.com/reproductionparts.html
