Throttle shaft bushings

    Hello all,

I want to bush the primary throttle shafts on Q-jets.

I don't have access to a "kit" locally and would rather not suffer the wait and expense of obtaining one (I'm in the Middle East).

I'm thinking of having an HSS bit partially ground down to 5/16" to use as a pilot (won't cost me anything), but what size should I start with? What I'm trying to ask is, what is a common bushing o.d. size that's used for this? I've seen some kits drill/ream to 25/64" and some to 3/8", do they use different bushings, or different clearances?

Is there a generic application for the bushing needed? What would be the dimensions required of the common bushing, 3/8" x 5/16" x 3/4" long? Where I can source them will be another matter, but part of the "fun".

I'd also be interested in feedback on the commercially available kits. Lots of variety out there, reamers, step-drills, guide rod and straight drill...

    Thanks for any help,

    Bubbles
