I have an 87 Regal with a tilt wheel and the tilt steering is getting looser by the day! How do I tighten it up? Should I have someone do it? Thanks Tim
I tightened up a tilt column on a s-10 blazer. there are 4 oddball headed screws that need to be tightened up. If I remember correctly, you have to take a lot of the column apart to tighten them down. It wasn't to bad, but access to the proper tools is a must. Bob
special tools I've got a good friend who does this job and he has 4 special tools to do the job with. I've seen him do it numerous times and it takes him about an hour to do one and its real easy to break/loose alot of the small parts inside. I would advise you to get it done by someone who has the knowledge and special tools to do it with. If you don't do it correctly you will end up with non-functioning turn signals etc and the bolts will come loose again in no time. Just thought I would add my two cents.
Piece of cake....I can do it blindfolded....LOL. I must have done 200 of them by now! I have the article on our site.....very easy to do but time consuming! http://www.buickperformance.com/tiltsteeringcolumnwobble.htm That article is on a 73-77 column but process is almost identical for the 78-87 G-body models.
Hi George! I have a 70 Wildcat coming, and I would really like to put a tilt column in it. Do you have a rebuilt one to sell perchance?
Oooooooooo, that is going to be tuff! Those are for 69-70 only. You can email me direct but may take a while to find one. GStage1@buickperformance.com
