Need a floor shift lower bowl for a 69-72 tilt column. Need the short one, not the longer repro one

For those out in GM land,he needs a Buick or Oldsmobile style. Chevy and Pontiac used the longer one.
I have machined them down when needed.

So there is a difference between a chevelle column and a buick?

Not exactly. The columns are essentially the same. The lower bowls on a 4 speed chevelle are longer and don't have the accommodation for the gear selector clip.

You can see the slot for the gear selector clip on this buick bowl

    Good to know, thank you.
So I'm guessing one can swap the bowls and have a buick column?

Or just put the complete chevelle column in and drill a hole for the clip. Swapping bowls isn't as easy as it seems. The entire column needs to come apart. Like every single piece...

It’s not 4-speed thing. Enough with that nonsense. The ONLY difference there is with a 4-speed column is the switch that gets mounted at the bottom for the reverse lights. ALL of the Chevys and ALL of the Pontiacs use the longer lower bowl. They also have the slot cut in them, but is a little tricky to use with the Buick needle linkage.

Is your column assembled now,or apart? You are correct that it has to be completely apart to remove that lower bowl.
