Tired of flat slicks, putting in tubes

Like the title says, I have 1 slick that goes flat after 3 days of sitting, so I put tubes in. Just wondering if I'll need to change my tire pressure when I go racing. I'm thinking "no", my 29.5 x 10.5s' seem to like 11 1/2 lbs. anything less makes for a sloppy unstable ride, something I don't like when I'm going 140 mph!
    Thanks, Gary G.

I ran the same pressure when I went with tubes.

I thought you can go even lower pressure with tubes?

Surprised you only run 11.5 lbs. What rim? I run 14-14.5 lbs with PHOENIX on 10 in rim. Anything more or less and it doesn't hook.

BTW the new PHOENIX hold air all winter as opposed to the older thin sidewalls that were flat in a day. And with the heavier sidewall they hook as well or better especially on our relatively heavy cars.

I run 15 x 10 rims, my slicks are the "stiff" MT's. I've had others say to try 13 lbs. But I know the 11 1/2 works, went racing this weekend, 60 fts. were 1.37 - 1.38. 6.10 @ 113 mph, 90 deg. day at Barona 1/8th mile track. Maybe I'll try a higher press. next time out, just to see what happens.

Gary, I've run every slick out there and the Phoenix are the stickiest and they hook down to the cords. My car wouldn't hook every time with the M/T's (took them off after 30 agravating passes where it only hooked completely like 5 times) like it does with the Phoenix.

Goodyears are good when new but go away too fast. I used to sell them half worn to the SBC guys when they wouldn't work for me any more and recover some cost.

Hoosiers almost as good as Phoenix but tended to dry rot.

I haven't run MH in many moons but they were the DOTs and their early drag radial (the original soft compound drag radial, still have them from the mid 80s!)

Just my experience with many sets of tires over the last 30 yrs.

I have used the Toyo Dragslicks and I'm impressed with a little burnout they stick good.
Have had air on the front wheelz a couple of times.

11.5 psi or 14.5 psi is to low for our car its to heavy for that.
Made one run with the Toyo on 14.5 PSI setting and it felt I was all over the place.

Best runs I made were with 18.8 or 20.30 PSI.

far as the slick going flat with no tube.next time you put a new set of slicks on try this.take some antibacterial hand soap pour some out on a clean rag and rub it in to the inside of the slick on all surfaces just a lite coate make everything shiney on the inside of the tire.that what ive been doing for yrs.i havent lost any air pressure in my slicks since the buick norwalk meet.one of our local big time racers told me this trick yrs ago.my car actualy 60 fts better with no tubes...the lite coate of soap seals the pourous inside surface of the tire.just dont get carriedd away with too much just nice even coate on all the inside sufaces worked for me for yrs
