As it seems we are veering off track with this topic, I think a brief reminder of what Mass law is stating: if you're caught with an OUNCE or less, it is a $100 fine. It doesn't mean anarchy will now take over in Mass and the world is coming to an end. It means less burden on the Mass legal, correctional and community policing systems. It will also generate revenue for the Commonwealth and for the towns- which are ALL in budgetary crisis. My own personal viewpoint is as long as it is used in moderation and not while 'operating heavy machinery' or 'driving' (much like schedule 1 perscription narcotics). For the record- I see more loss and death with alcohol and heroin- FIRST HAND. Joe- Hawken- my deepest sympathies to your families and loved ones.

i live in mass also and am embarresed by the new law. i am an elevator custructor and work with people that smoke the stuff and i will tell you that there decision making skills aren't quite up to snuff, they usually don't think before they do something and we move a lot of heavy parts (this elevator stuff is heavy) and i have had to "speak up" about them being careless, possibly puting myself at risk of injury. unfortunatly the union will protect them to a point. they will have to go into a rehab program for a while and other things. if it were up to me i would for one beat them, then fire their a$$ for being so irresponsible around others, especially when you are 22 floors up, i mean come on. we had someone fail a drug test last week on a big job in boston that the contractor mandates drug tests, but they just moved him to another job. if you are going to do it fine, just don't let it affect me what so ever, especially at work. go bag groceries or something. by the way i also think they should bring back prohibition. sorry for the rant but that is how i feel.
