Tom Stafford, one of the second group of astronauts has passed. He flew on at least two orbital missions including one that orbited, but did not land - on the Moon. He was the first General Officer to fly in space, and later in his career was responsible for overseeing the development of several military aircraft including the B-2 Bomber, He flew over 100 different types of military aircraft.

He also was involved in the development of the XST (F117) stealth fighter. The man definitely had quite a distinguished and lengthy career in public service. A patriot in every sense of the word. Rest easy, General Stafford.

There is a museum in Oklahoma named after him. Pretty cool place to check out if you're into space exploration or aviation.
