Hi i'm rebuilding my dynaflow (60 electra) and the brass bushing coming out of my torque ball seems to have a lot of play.
I have a machinist who proposed to put new brass and machine it to spec but he is asking me for the 'free play' gap spec.
I cant find it in the manual (I may have missed it).
What is the usual gap needed for such a bushing to transmission axle play ?

You'll have to clean up the scoring on the u-joint. I would say no more than .010" should be fine.

Yes I noticed that scoring... I pulled it out gently and there was a noticable amount of golden flakes in the oil (brass). Not sure what the last PO did to it.
How do I clean it up ?
    Use fine sand paper ?

Since your having the bushing custom made to your specs. I would cut it down/resurface it somehow at the machine shop. I'm sure he'll be able to figure it out. The smoother the better in my mind.
