I am about to put a newly rebuilt motor in my car and while it's out I'm going to replace the front pump seal and rear seal. The mechanic that is doing it(I don't have time to do it) told me to also replace the Torque Converter Bushing. Has anyone ever heard of this? I don't recall ever seeing one of those. uzzled:
Yes, it's in the pump, behind the front seal.. pump has to come out and apart to replace it. If you have a leak then replace the bushing and seal.. I might not fool with it, if the seal is still in good shape and not leaking. Often times I have seen guys cause more problems than anything by " just popping a seal in for the heck of it". JW
Thanks Jim. It is leaking, or wet, around the front pump. If the car sits at an angle for a week or two it leaks fluid but I think this is normal. I have heard of people blowing out the rear seal when they replaced only the front pump seal. I can't seem to find the torque converter bushing at Auto Zone, O'Reilly etc., who sells these?
