Well been have traction problems still and I think i may have it figured out but I not sure here is a picture of the clutches from my posi know it is a eaton with the 22 discs and the kit i just got in the mail only has 18 they both take up the same spacing but the 22 set are thinner 18 are thicker but over all there the same know my question is are the 18 set going to be good enought for know till i put a spool but I don't want too......here is picture
Exactly.....not that bad on the street either. Like a tight posi. I went thru numerous "brute strength" units before going spool. Cracked caes, broken spider gears, snapped cross pins. Never tried the new Eaton with carbon fiber discs....might be worth a try if you really want to stay with posi.
Hi Guys, My choice is a Detroit Locker any day over a spool IF you are going to see ANY kind of street duty! You won't break one of these and they unlock when going around corners. No clutches or spring packs to wearout either. You do have to get kind of used to the ratcheting sound coming from the rearend but it lets you know it's working! All in all...I LOVE my Locker in my GS conv.!:TU: I plan on exchanging the Eaton 30-spline posi unit I have in my Regal's (GN) 8.5" for a Locker a little later down the road. Reider Racing has Detroit Lockers for MOST every application! Here is a link to their listings... http://www.reiderracing.com/detroitlockerapp2.htm Hope this helps...
Spool If you decide to go to a spool, I will be taking mine out of my car sometime in the next few weeks. I am putting it back to street duty and my new race car has a Fo*# nine inch. I will sell it to you at a reasonable cost, if you need it. 12 bolt GM for 4 series gears. Send me a PM & let me know. Thanks, Steve
Well that's it I'm think of driving it some not till the fall but even then not going to far!!maybe it's time for the spool
