Can any one help me? I am trying to find out if there is anything out there to convert a 322 Dynaflo over to open drive shaft. adaptors, tranny to fit, what ever you know about this will help. I really want to stay automatic, if possible. Thanks - - Dave - - "zimco"
dynaflow Stick with the dynaflow, if you want to change to a open drive shaft thr rear end from a Olds should work you must change rear springs as the torque tube holds the rear end in place and bolts to the dynaflow it is a floating unit, the engine mounts to the cross member and two front motor mounts , so if you take out the cross member to install a different transmisson you must make a new mount, the 322 has a small bell housing you can find a buick to Lasalle std.3 speed or early FORD, to much work for a little gain, put a new style pump in the dynaflow curved weights in the dist. new vac. advance, time the engine rich up the carb and you are there! hopes this helps, JIM ROBERTSON

Dynaflo tranny I still need help - - - When you say stay with the Dynaflo, do you mean a newer (1957 - up) Buick dynaflo? When it comes to transmissions I'm at a loss. Can I use the front of my 322 Dynaflo with the back of a newer open drive Dynaflo? Are there no adaptors, or anyone around who has done this. If need be I may go to a newer engine (more parts available) like a big block. I hate to do it because this motor was rebuilt a short time ago. Thanks, Dave - - "zimco"
Dave I saw adds for addaptor to later GM trannies on the web but I can't find it now. You may have better luck. I have a 56 stick bell housing and you can machine the pilot bearing hole out to fit Chevy 4 speed and ream the top holes on chevy trans to bolt top I'm not far enough allong yet to know for sure but I think I can drill holes in bottom trans flange for bottom bolts. Hey Dave, Here's a link to website that is manufacturing transmission adaptors for the nailheads Bendtsen's I almost went that route but wasn't quite ready to absorb cost of converting to an open drive shaft. Instead I took on the task of rebuilding my dynaflow. I just got everything back together a couple days ago so if you decide to go that route I might be able to give some advice. Good luck either way. Rocky
