Any one got leads on the fitting that goes to the back of the intake for a 1970 Buick 455. Or an acceptable replacement would work don't need OEM, it's just preferred. Is there a universal part that could be adapted to the fitting size?

I swapped to an Edelbrock manifold and the fittings aren't the same and mine is goobered up.

Not exactly Larry. Its actually a special fitting made to fit a 3/16" steel line inside it. A standard brass 1/8" nipple fitting is a 1/16" too small to fit a 3/16" inside it

I guess if anything will do ......I dont think your finding a fitting that will accept a 3/16" steel line in it

This is the original fitting. It's steel-

This is how much the 3/16" line goes into the original fitting

And the collar is important in order for the rubber hose to seal it

Hes going to need to find a fitting that has enough wall thickness to drill it out to 3/16"

I'm trying to help the OP. Your just being a Debby downer.:) I'm not convinced there is nothing that will work except a stock original fitting.

Im helping as well. I went to the garage, got a fitting and a piece of line. I took some pics of how the line fits in the nipple then suggested the OP might be able to drill out an auto parts store fitting to fit. Id say Ive been extremely helpful and provided good information

CJay is correct about the factory fitting, the modulator line slides inside the manifold fitting, always thought that was weirdo_O
Larry is correct also, any fitting will work as long as the connection between the fitting and steel line is air tight.
WHEW, we’re all still friends right??:p:D

I think some of you guys wouldn't last one day in the Northeast GS/GN club. Ball breaking is almost a required activity.:D:D Jason enjoys it more than most. He has as much told me so.;)

16825495960334421423493911611195.jpg I think the short rubber hose piece seals the whole shebang.
Is that 1/8" pipe thread? Like this...

Yes, 1/8 NPT. I have a bag full of various brass fittings. I pulled 2 fittings out of there that would work. I checked the fit with a piece of brake line. One of them, the line slid right in, the smaller one, I ran a 3/16" drill through, and it fit nice and snug. The stock modulator line has a collar on it that buts up against the top of the nipple. Then the vacuum line goes over the junction, and call it done. Jason might lose sleep over the color though.:D. Wonder how the OP made out?

Idk, but if op needs one of these steel fittings I used to make, I'll send him one. The i.d. is .234, not .187 though. Like I mentioned, the rubber piece seals it all anyway.

I looked around at the parts stores here in Casper and couldn't quite find one that was the same. On the thread side, the opening is reduced to about the size of a match head. Would having a larger opening really affect anything. I was reading with a larger opening there would be a delay in the vacuum pressure reaching what it needs to activate the modulator.

I'm certainly no expert and am open to suggestions.
