I am fixing up a 1966 Lesabre. I know the car has a 4 speed automatic. the question is, does anybody know what the gear ratio is??

caddy used 4 speed auto trannys alot back then .... maybe it is the same ... try askin around th caddy community also.

a friend of mine had a 60 caddy limo .... first gear was REEEEEALLY low.

it was a strange set-up on the linkage....the linkage went from the accelerator pedal down to the tranny and then back up to the carb .... a real handful to drive with a broken motor mount.

A 66 Le Sabre definitely DOES NOT have a 4 speed auto. Unless someone swapped one into it, which is EXTREMELY unlikely.

Actually, Caddy, Olds and Pontiac used that old 4 speed Hydramatic only until the mid-50s or so. Buick and Chevy never used it.

I had one of those in a 1964 Caddy that I drove when I was in high school during the early 70s. Shift indicator went like this. P,N,D,2,L,R, not sure if it was D,2,L or D2,D1,L but you get the idea. If I wasn't careful when I put it in low the thing would shift into reverse during a hole shot from the twisting and torque.:eek2: :spank: That trans was called a Jetaway as I recall. It only showed three forward gears but first gear had two different ratios.
