Any good vendors with the correct trunk mat for my 72 Stage 1 convt.? The rear 1/2 of the car is done, finally. I have an NOS rear spoiler for it as well. Do the Y1 spoiler brackets work / look original? Thanks. Happy 2006 .Upstaged in michigan

    Y1 Spoiler brackets

Thanks !! I will mount the spoiler myself on one of my 5 "spare" trunklids. This convt. is too nice to try and patch & scratch. Happy 2006. Upstaged in Michigan

Original parts group has the correct mat for '68-'72. I bought one and I was extremely happy with it. But it took them almost 3 months to get it to me.

If you use one you are asking for trouble with rust from the condensation caused by the mat.

I'm With Jim, I see this all the time on ebay. They pull back the rubber matt and there is rust starting on both sides....Even on Newly restored projects..I wonder if using POR15 instead of the normal products people use if it would still do that? Anybody Know?

I used Eastwood for the trunk resto, and it's supposed to stop the rust where it is, but the car has to stay in the garage until I get that pesky window leak fixed. Darn A-bodies.

  9. I took a new trunk matt and glued some light black felt to the backside.. this allows air to get between the matt and the trunk floor yet retains the stock look. so far so good.. Bob

I like the idea Bob...felt to back...I was even thinking of gluing something like scotch brite...1/4 thick..the stuff is weaved and sparse so it would allow for good air circulation...

Thanks for the insight(s) ! I will focus on finishing the rest of the car and then address the little parts/pieces. RGG

Call me ignorant. But I have seen quite a few people recommend black carpet from home dept instead of the houndstooth rubber mat. I looked at the home depot stuff, it has a rubber backing (mabe i looked a wrong stuff)...will that not still trap condensation??
