A lot of info in this thread, which seems to point toward Zolatone as the go to for this project. http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/1970-gsx-correct-trunk-paint.352769/#post-3010466
I just used the cheapo HarborFreight primer gun I have in the shop for non-critical spray jobs. This paint does like a large orifice gun to get the right spatter effect.
You did a great job with your respray, but it appears to me that the aqua to black ratio of that TPP paint may be weighted more heavily towards aqua than the factory Buick paint.
Perhaps, but this isn't a numbers matching restoration. Close enough for 99% of the buyers/owners in the world, especially considering it gets covered by a matt.
Just to be clear, I didn't mean to put down your car or effort in any way. I think your trunk looks great. My statement was only meant to address the suitability of the TPP paint for restoration purposes.
I have a list printed out by our local dealer showing the complete GM inventory nationwide. Total 16 cans. I'll be calling next week.
I found that those lists can be a bit on the optimistic side. When I first bought what would become the Buchev I wanted a new GM factory passenger side door. GM showed about three doors nationwide. My dealer - Vendetti motors in Franklin, MA tried all three. No luck.
