How heavy are these pistons compared to stock cast? Would the engine need to be rebalanced?

 

I’m not sure about the weight vs stock, the engine should be balanced anytime the pistons are switched plus the factory balancing was very very poor. I would balance any engine I rebuilt.

can these pistons be used in a standard bore Buick 3.8" v-6?

 

Hi, they would physically fit however the compression height is different so they would likely sit too tall in the blocks bore.
