Well... I never thought this day would come, but I'm forced to sell my first car, and realize I'm going to take a bath on it. :(

    It's a 67 Skylark, I've had it since 1989.
While in high school, I dropped a 455 in it, and a couple years later I got out the cutting torches and started to back-half it. It hasn't seen the road since probably 1991?? I've spent a ton of time, and just as much $$ on this car... yet in it's current state, it's a sad sight.

Don't hate me.. but it currently has a BBC in it. (some of you might remember the saga when I was trying to decide what to do with the BBC I had laying around) Wouldn't take anything to put a 455 in it though. The only "mods" made to the car for the BBC, were some 67 Chevelle frame pads which bolted right in. I have the frame pads for a 455 which will come with the car if the price is right.

The BBC has been broke in on my run stand, but never ran in the car.
I've been told the combo should put out somewhere around 650HP.
708 Roller cam, ported GM aluminum heads, 1050 Dominator flowed to 1200, intake port matched to the heads, Deadenbear(sp?) water pump, MSD distributor and MSD 6AL box with 2-step.
Trans was rebuilt by Coan, and I bought the 3500 stall Coan converter off this website.

    The car...
    Wheels are Centerline Warriors
    Tires are Mickey Thompsons
Front end has 2" drop disc spindles
Rear end is a narrowed Ford 9", with Strange nodular center section, Strange spool, Mosier axles, Wilwood disc brakes, gears are used 5.xx?? that I had laying around. I never got around to getting proper gears for this combo.

Rear subframe is 2x3 tube, cage is 1 5/8" DOM steel (not moly)
Shocks are adjustable coilovers, forget the brand.
Fuel cell shown in one of the pics is gone. We stole it to use on our run stand and I never replaced it.

I haven't done ANY tin (aluminum) work inside.
Body needs new quarters, and finshed connecting tp the rear subframe.
You'll need to make or adapt rear bumper mounts.
Doors don't have glass in them, but I do have plenty of glass laying around.
I have core support, fenders, and hood for the car.
Most of the sheet metal needs alot of rust repair. (quarters, doors, fenders, rockers, etc..)

This thing needs a TON of work, and you can almost bet it would never pass a certification to go fast at a track. All fab work was done by myself and friends, and I'm just sure it wasn't all done "by the book". I was building it because I love the look... not because I was going to race it alot.

I'm asking <s>$7,500.00</s> <s>$6,500.00 OBO</s> $5,000 for the car and engine as it sits, or $2,500 for the roller and I'll keep the engine/trans/ignition.
(most current pics show the car with the BBC in it... all other pics are from past years during the build)

Car can be seen anytime, night or day. I work minutes from our house and can meet you here anytime.
    Thanks for looking.

    Hi Ken
Yes, I have a clear title.
If the price is right, I'm sure we can arrange something to get the car up to Canada. I'm about 2.5-3 hrs from Windsor.
Give me a day or two to dig the car out better and get more detailed pix.
    Thanks

Ken, sorry I haven't had a chance to dig the car out yet for better pix.
It's buried in the back corner of my shop.
    Hopefully this weekend. :(

A bunch of new pictures from today as it sits.
Not shown is the MSD distributor, plugs, wires, and 6AL that goes with it. Thats all back on the workbench.

    Ken asked what it needs......
    I have to say EVERYTHING!
I do have a core support and fenders for it. I will probably half-ass install them in the next couple days just to "condense" the piles here...

    Taking offers??
    Will split up motor/car...

She's on ebay with even a lower price.
I have more in the engine/trans than the opening bid, and probably 75% of the opening bid invested just between the back tires.
The body/chassis is about 2 weeks from a crusher at this point. :(

$2,500 for the car as a roller with 455 BBB frame mounts.
I keep the BBC engine/trans/MSD stuff

I'm transporting it to the new house tonight. (we moved this weekend) Within a day or two, I need to make a decision on whether I mothball it in the corner of a tiny one car garage and completely bury it in crap, or part it out and scrap the body to gain the space back.

Speak now or forever hold your piece...

I vote to mothball it...You will never regret it..Glad to see things are working out for you.

    Thanks Pat
If I mothball it, it won't be because I plan to finish it someday. The days of collosal projects are gone for me in the forseeable future. I want another car as soon as I can afford it, but I'm going to buy a turn-key deal. I don't have a shop anymore, and I need to concentrate my efforts (spare time) on rebuilding our marriage.

If I mothball it, it will be just long enough to get things organized, sell off the rest of my crap so I can get to the car, and then I'd probably put the body back together, wire up the engine so it can be started, throw a coat of primer on it, and then sell it.

I honestly feel that in about a weekends time and spend about $50, I could have it bolted back together to look like a car, primered so it's all one color, and running. (not driving though)
I think it would be much easier to sell that way, and I'd probably get alot more out of it too.

$2,500 for the roller.... come get it! :beers2:

    Thanks Dan :TU:
I posted the story in another thread somewhere.. forget exactly where...
But yes, we're going to work things out. We bought another house together and started moving Wednesday night. This car was the last thing to get out of the old shop, and I moved it last night.

I really think I'm going to part it out. I just can't see myself ever finishing it... At the very best, it would sit here for at least several years before I got back to it. I just don't have the time, space, or money to do it. Time to cut bait and move on. I'll keep the engine in the corner for a future project or sell it. Then sell the rear end, drop spindle kit, and wheels/tires, and then send the body/cage to the crusher.

Anyone even remotely interested in the roller before I start yanking it apart? I'm borrowing my old cherry picker back tonight... The body has to go. $2,500 OBO.... almost $4K invested just from back tire to back tire....

The wife is out of town until Saturday afternoon, and right now the car is in her parking spot in the garage. It'll be gone by Saturday morning.... :(

    Thanks guys. :beers2:

I was asked in a PM about what parts would come with the roller to make it worthwhile. I thought I should post the info here as well...

Cost guesses off the top of my head...
    Centerline Warrior Wheels $800?
    Mickey Thompson Tires $800?
    Wilwood rear disc brakes $500?
Front 2" Drop Spindles and disc brake kit $400?
9" Ford Rear end (narrowed housing, Moser axles, Strange center section, Strange spool) $2,000?
    Coil over shocks (rear) $200?
Close to $200 in heim ends for the 4 link
Probably close to $800 in tubing for the cage and rear frame
Buick 455 frame pads would come with it $100?
    Car body .... $300?

At a quick glance that adds up to over $6,000 invested, not counting at least 100 hours of labor.
For comparison, if you were starting from scratch you could buy a rear subframe kit for $1,300 from Summit (example part number CEE-1413) and you would still need to buy everything in my list except the shocks, heim ends, and about half the tubing.

I received a quote from an auto transport, 960 running condition, 1200 not running, zip code to zip code. Yikes.
