It is easy to install an AFR gauge. Not a lot different than any other aftermarket instrument. Will look where I mounted my O2 sensor tomorrow. Usually they mount near the header flange.
Is it rich at idle, during cruise or full throttle? Here are some things you should check: Make sure your PV's are rated at about 1/2 your idle vacuum while in gear (if auto) Check your t-slot to make sure you don't have too much exposed, it should be close to a square slot when you are close. Increase your idle bleeds maybe three sizes to lean it out a bit How is your float level, maybe it's too high. You can either lower your pressure a bit if its 8 or 9 psi or adjust with screw and lock nut. After this, re-adjust your idle mixture screws for max. vacuum Your emulsion bleeds are another option if none the above resolves the issue...requires some experience here. Check the latest Hot Rod question and answer section towards the back of the magazine. Good recommendations.
It's rich at full throttle. Mike Phillips at AMP tuned it for me at his shop in KY on a similar motor to mine. I guess the differences in altitude (KY versus South FL) and shop environment make the A/F ratio different? Mike noted all the changes he made but that's at the house. That's a good idea to video the gages during the run. Never thought of that. I'll need to get AFR gage eventually. Disc brakes are next!! Thanks for your input
