    Well what the Heck!

I was driving my Stock GS 350 / 350 and pulled the shifter down into second gear from "D" and the car went into a neutral like feeling? If I gave it gas it goes fine but when you let off it just free wheels, no drag? If I pull it into first it grabs and slows the car?

My son tells me that happened to him when he had the car out a year ago and thought I knew?

Everything else works fine? the car shifts perfectly in "Drive" In fact if I had not down shifted I never would have known there was a problem?

I just had the trans out a few weeks ago to put a converter in the car! That would have been the time to address this I am sure!

    Ideas?

What's the stall on the converter? Is that stall speed the point where it stops feeling "neutral" like and starts going?

The Converter is a 2400. It is not the converter. When I let of the gas in Drive you can feel the trans slowing the car down. Like I said if you drop it into second it just free wheels when you let up on the gas. Even if I start in second the car shifts normal first to second but when I let off the gas it is like Neutral, only in second! Other then that the trans operates perfectly!?!

Don't know about the THM350, but if you manually shift a THM400, eventually, you will wear something out(think it is a band). Manually shifting a transmission accomplishes the shift using different components, ands subjects it to wear. This doesn't sound like a simple problem to me.

Intermediate band and/or servo is toast. It is what provides engine braking in manual L2. Without it you're engaged to 2nd gear through a one way clutch, which is why the engine idles if you let off the gas. Maybe the anchor on the band for the case pin let go. Some of them have pretty poor welds. Trans could eventually fail from debris, or continue to work as it does for years. I would at least pull the pump and inspect the band because for some reason the band isn't applying in L2.
