Nothingface5384 Detail To Oil - Car Care

for turbos you'd need to modify the carm for blowthrough or get a race blowthrough carb through csu

electric fuel pump, fuel filter(s) and boost reference regulator)can cost another 3 to 600 dollars
block off plate is the cheapest part to going turbos haha

    455nglide Working On A Dream

Well, I guess with the whole budget thing I should mention that its not me who will be doing it. Its the family car and my dad just sold another so he'd be working on it.
He is just looking for the most cost efficient way to make it go fast.
He's always loved regals so that's what he wants to do.

Its admirable to see that you are approaching this project with respect for your fathers resources...good man. SInce you are a student it shouldnt be too long before you do a car project on your own. This is the right place to get ideas for sure.

I sure do not agree with Casons comment about the BBB self destruction, but you do have to admit he does have 2 good points in there. A SBB is way cheaper and is very dependable. The block can handle in excess of 1000 HP. Like the V6 the SBB likes cylinder pressure and a 1971-81 motor already has 8:1 compression, begging for boost. It would be less clique to go with the SBB and some type of boost/NO2 (and lots of it) on a stocker with very little gear.....3.23's in a light car would be different, fun and cheap. If you are bracket racing, a dirt cheap 455 is gonna be bang for the buck. No doubt about that.

    He never had one!:ball:

Besides the big block bashing.I say you get either engine they both have there pros and cons.

455 you got the tourqe spinning beast of legend and years of drag info and builds that have been known to rip it up,but then you also will be like everyone else.

350 you got the meanest 350 on the block the aftermarket scene is growing a little we have single plane intakes turbo kits pro charg kits.PLus when you do stomp said oppenent at the track and they say "you got a dag gone big block in that there regal???"LOl you say nope its a 350!

Honestley the BBB will be the cheaper way to go I would imagine you get for 5 to 7 hundred spend a couple grand on it and have 500 ponies easy I would imagine.Just my thoughts!Take care Russ!:spank: :spank:

My personal suggestion after trying to kill a SBB for 3 years, would be to build a stout 350 and put a small shot on it. With a 3800lb race weight my stock 350 with a 150 shout went 12.40s through manifolds and 2 1/4 exhaust ALL DAY LONG.....made 20 passes at the track once in a single day, and have over 80-90 slips with the car on the hit. So factor in a Regal that should weight 1000lbs lighter as a track car and thats an easy low 11 car, that should last a long time with little maintanence needed. So a mild 350 with some real head work and better intake should make the car an easy 10 sec ride. And this was with 93 pump gas.

I pulled that combo out of the car in favor of a BBB though....that only last a few hours till it ate itself to death, due to some faulty machine work that was done to it.

    MHO from personal experience only.
