I probably shouldn't show this pic, I recovered these two Rivs, a '70 and a '71, from a pasture, the owner was heading for the crusher with 'em, I talked him into dropping them off at a buddies shop. As I had 12 rigs parked on my property at the time, and the wife was nearly appoplectic, coming home with two more was out of he question. I pulled the two 455's and th400's and stored them. Asked around a bunch, but couldn't find anyone who wanted the Riv's. I'da kept em if there was any way, but no dice on that number. So they went to the crusher.....
I parted out a 1971 Riv on ebay earlier this year. I think I sent about half of that car to Europe. The complete dash assembly, almost all the trim. Any small pieces they are just dying for over there and are more than happy to pay the shipping. Just FYI in case you come across any more.
All Gone!!!! Yeah, they are gone.... It saddened me, but space (and land) are at a real premium over here, and it is very difficult to find space to keep unique specimens like these two boattails..... I can't save 'em all, and if I can't find someone who is interested, they're gone! Everything goes to the crusher, then the metal all goes to China! No salvage yards here like over there, land is just too valuable!!! Welcome to the extreme of "Pave Paridise, Put Up A Parking Lot...." :af: But that's modern day Hawaii for ya...... I've been living on Maui 40 years now, and have watched the changes here with great sadness....
Did you get to snatch anything other than just the trannys/engines? Didn't happen to snatch any Fender Emblems, Radios, Dashboards, or Rims, did you?
Nope, all gone, the buddy with the wrecker who was helping me with it was anxious to get it over with, i was just lucky to get the engines out before they disappeared!!! Yeah, too bad, wish I'd a had about a week to pull some of the "good stuff" off of them. Just wasn't possible....
