i currently had a 10 bolt in my 1971 buick skylark i swapped in a 12 bolt out of a 1969 chevelle and the yoke on the 12 bolt is to small for the couplers off my u joint on the original driveshaft its stock with the u joint that was on the car for the 10 bolt.. so i need a smaller u joint for it to work or can i swap my yoke out of the 10 bolt and bolt in my 12 bolt???
there is what is called a combo joint available. call a local driveshaft company.thet will be able to supply you with what you need.
Very common problem. The conversion u-joint has smaller cups on one axis, and bigger cups on the other. According to my Guide to GS Buick book by Steven Dove, the part numbers are Neapco 3-3130, or Precision #372. http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-3-3130-...pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PCN-372/ BTW, if you removed the original 8.5 10 bolt rear and it was good, you can probably easily sell it here. That's a good sturdy rear with bolt in axles.
