Looking at all the pics I can on the forum and I'm getting even more confused. My 71 GS the underside of the hood is black. Yet I see many pics where the underside is body colored. What is correct???

    Thanks!!!

Some people paint underside of the hood body color. It looks bogus!

Wouldn't the underside of the hood be the same dull black as the engine bay??? I think it's like 10-20% gloss

had a little shine to it. Varied from car to car as did all black parts that were sourced from different plants. 30-40 years of fade can really dull things so unless you have a way back machine gloss level may be debated forever..

Jeff, My 70 GSX QQ Saturn Yellow has the original paint everywhere except driver's door. Underside of my hood is black. Fred

    Old thread...

Are the responses above specific to the 71GS the OP stated?

My 67 Skylark has what looks like the original paint under the hood. It's body color with black overspray. Wondering about that.

67 Skylark should be semi gloss black under the hood also

I checked again -- I was mistaken. Closer inspection revealed it was black with white overspray from the repaint it had under the PO. Satin black it is.
    Thanks!!
