Unidentified Bushings

    Hey guys, I have attached a couple pics of these two bushings that I'm having a hard time finding the name of. The bar these bushings are on connects to the lower control arm under the end link. I have also attached a pic of these.[IMG]

    After looking at the pics, you'll see that they obviously need replacement. I have a Haynes book for my model, but it doesn't even show or state anywhere in it about these bushings. Actually, the book doesn't even acknowledge that there are bars there in the first place....I'd have went with a Chilton, but I couldn't find one of those for my car either.

    So, maybe someone else who also owns a '70 LeSabre :)grin: nudge nudge Go Buick Go & SharpSabre455) might have some insight as to what the names of the bar or bushings are. Try to ignore all the layers of caked on dirt and grease. It will all be getting removed shortly as I am rebuilding the engine and replacing anything and everything I can think of that truly needs it.

    Thanks guys,
    Charles Ritter

    I can give you the part numbers etc if that would assist you.

    For instance the rod is Group 6.171, #1235669

    The technical name is brake reaction rod.

    Nut = 9/16 -12

    Group = 6.171
    outboard washer = 1230071
    outboard bushing = 1378681
    inboard bushing = 1378682
    inboard washer = 1230072

    Brake reaction rod bushing. That's what GM called those rods anyways.

    Cars has them, as do others.

    I'm writing that down right now! Have a P/N or name for the bushings? Or are they just called "brake reaction bar bushings"? :)

    Thanks Jim,

    I haven't ordered from them yet.
    Seems there are mixed results when it comes to the kind of service you get.

    Though I do have a their order form filled out with parts I would like to get.
