I wouldn't mind too much . After all, they are not accusing her of being a Chebbie! And, from some of the posts I've been reading lately, a number of the V8 brethren seem to consider GTOs a sweet GM cousin.
GSX got a workout this weekend. Drove it all over today My project for today was to install the missing HVAC stuff under the dash. Installed the plastic duct that goes under the column and put in the hose that comes off the right side dash vent. Just had dinner and I'm itching to install my quartz converted 24 hr clock. Next up is some front end work. Lower ball joints and some front wheel bearing service. But after the NE Chapter GS club spring meet.
For years, I have not had an avatar. But this thread inspired me. I have a 67 GTO convertible (Kitty) and a 67 GS 400 (Birdie). So BINGO! Avatar! Please notice that reading from left to right puts the Buick first. This is the world's primo Buick forum so the pecking order demands Buick come first before its GM cousin!
Jason throw those ball joints in early Sunday & I will let you do the wheel alignment at the shop for free after the meeting.
AC? Drivers side vent hose was a pain in the neck for me. Is that the one you did? ( I never know right from left!) Nice work!
funny story on this picture, drove by a 72 chevelle yesterday on my way to go drive with my father and i yelled, its a buick! i learned it was not in fact a buick
Interesting tidbit of information I learn yesterday- There is a small dent/ crease on the right fender just ahead of the wheel. You can see it pretty clearly in the last pic of the car I posted. I texted the second owner, Greg and asked him about it. He said he bought the car with that dent in 84. So that damage is from the original owner!
The car in that meme is actually my old '71 Stage 1. That picture was lifted from the classic car dealer in NC that had it for sale. It is the same GS that is in my avatar. It was originally Verdemist Green with a dark green vinyl top and a saddle tan interior. I sold it to Tom Baker and he changed the color when he started restoring it. I talked him out of changing the color three times but I failed the fourth time. He sold it to John Looney before he finished it and John finished the restoration. I have been seeing that meme for a while and I always think "That is my old car"!
Great story Mike. Joe from California sent me that meme a couple years ago I had it as my avatar for a while because it matched my car and I can’t remember how many times my car was called a Chevelle. I was thinking about having T-shirts made, you tell it’s a 71 from the side view. I think Jason should find a satin yellow GSX meme and say 70 GSX been called a GTO since 1970.
And the defroster I installed with the package tray doesn't work. I distinctly remember testing it a couple months ago. Anyway, I took it out and sure enough, the motor is tight. I unbent the tabs and took the motor apart. Filthy inside. I polished the armature with mothers, cleaned the inside of the housing, blew it all out with compressed air and lubed the bronze bushings. Put it all back together and it's like a small tornado back there now! It was blowing my hair back when I was bench testing it!
I did this on the beater. Not sure I used the best technique’s, but I got good results. How did you remove the fan from the shaft? How did you compress the brush springs to get the case back on?
