I have both, the '66 was from a lesabre with the "400" package & the '67 was from my old GS 400.Didnt the '67 have a lower first gear? Also, how hard is a trans to rebuild?I've never done anything other than filter & vacume mod replacement.

It seems like the 67 would be the stronger of the two if there is a difference in them. The tranny out of a 67 GS should be more performance oriented I would think If the 66 was behind a nail head it would have a different bolt pattern. I didn't think they put 400s with the B.O.P. bolt pattern in Buicks until
67.:Do No: What engine did the 66 have?

The '66 lesabre was a 340-4,posi,alleged V/P as it did have the switch on the intake. They called it a 400 package because....i dont know why:pp It looks to be a non V/P,going by the tag:71-AA:Do No: It also has the valley that looks universal.I will drag them out from under the bench tomorrow, now that it's finally warming up a bit,i feel semi-productive:laugh:

  4. use either one but get a late model valve body so you get part throttle downshifts. the 65-67 versions dont have this feature. I did this and it made a big improvement.
