My 84 Century wagon 3.0 engine has crankshaft issues and is nearly locked up. I have a lead on a 3.8 84-85 engine and doing some home work see the engine is very close to being a match. I see the flywheel and front dampener are different but other then that look real close, any thoughts.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories AL.
Might want to check motor mounts and bell housing bolt pattern. If both are front wheel drive, might work. roverman.
The FWD 3.0 and 3.8 of that vintage are very similar as far as mounting, electronics, and accessories. Both have the same trans bolt pattern. The 3.8 will need a little more fuel, so keep in mind other upgrades may be necessary. You may be able to get away with using a TTA/GNX FP regulator to get your fuel pressure up a little if it works with that fuel rail(can't remember off the top of my head, getting old). Or if you want to have some real fun, buy the 3.8 SC drivetrain out of my wife's Regal GS that I'm parting out and wedge it in there
Re: V6 Advice Needed- Broken Crankshaft I know how you guys don't take much interest in V6 Buick by the lack of post on my V6 stuff. Well, I pulled the oil pan on my 3.0 V6 and found the crankshaft is broken in half!! The one and two are separate from three and four!! I herd a lower end noise for a wile and didn't seem to get worse until last week when I herd a bearing noise and shut it down right away. I still can beleive this engine didn't come completly a part, keep beleiving ray: , AL.
