Anybody repo the hose that attaches to the carb and I think attaches to the back of the intake? It is a molded piece, black rubber about 1/2-to5/8 in
    diameter. Thanks

George, I have gone through the parts book 76 printing I have and it lists the early part number for a 71 455 as well as 70. It also lists the later part number as well for 71 455. The book contradicts itself. No way to really tell what a 71 came off the assembly line with unless from an untouched car. Do you have anymore insite on this? I took the second type off of a 71 Electra but it looks like it may have been relplaced as later date code than 71. I have both types to compare and the later style goes up higher in back. Ever seen an untouched 71 with original hose? Very interested in this. Second type I found still has paper tag on it as does my NOS early style.

What is the difference between the 70 and 71?

Well the 71 may be the same as the 70. I have not figured a way to tell when they swithced. The later style goes straight up higher after it leaves the PCV valve before it turns. The early style make a qhuciker 90 degree turn. I can post a picture of the two together sometime in the next few days.

I spoke to Duane about this issue at Columbus this year.

70 versions are formed slightly different than 71 because the 70 thermostatic choke has a "J" clamp/clip to hole the PCV hose in-place. The 71 versions do not have the clip.....so the hose is formed slightly different.

The 70 version should work for the 71 models.....although a purist may be able to tell the difference. I would buy Frank's repro and use it.

Thanks George, The 71's also had a clip to hold hose but it is punched into the wire shield. When you use the earleir style the hose would hit the back of the intake and maybe get a burned from heat if strecthed to fit the 71 clip. I did a test fit and this is what I found. I will try and post a picture of both types. The later style is a good shape original I may use off 71 Electra. Still has paper tag
