No. A guy works for 60+ years, orders and buys 4 new GS cars ('68, '70, '71, '72), keeps the '72 for 40 years, gets divorced+sells it, buys 4 more and a T-Type that he restores and sells, retires, and decides he has had enough "mid-sized" GM cars and gets a "small car" for his retirement hobby.

What he does NOT do is realize that GM simply took everything in 1966 Impala and stuffed it into 1/2 the space, so working on the engine and interior and suspension is twice as hard as it was to work on their "mid-sized" cars.

HOWEVER, he makes sure that the paint is poor so he can drive it every day as opposed to the GS cars that earned a TON of trophies with their perfect new paint jobs (which you are invited to dust whenever you wish) and drives the car pretty much every day and enjoys the hell out of it. Oh, since it is a one of the best LOOKING cars ever designed, he really enjoys seeing it in the garage or driving it about town where he gets a lot of thumbs-ups and honks. It isn't real slow, either, but that's another post.

Of course, since the car was a "survivor," all of the suspension was factory, the interior was factory, the top was original, and the engine has never been out of the car. SO, he "enjoys" paying double for Chevy parts that say "Corvette" on the box but have the same part numbers as all other Chevrolet's of that era, replaces the suspension--FUN!--and rebuilds the steering box, takes out the Powerglide and has an expert install a 700r4 so that 35 MPH is 1000 RPM, replaces the interior, fixes the power windows, the factory A/C vent parts, rebuilds the seats, adds shoulder belts, an aftermarket radio and speakers, and adds radial gold-striped tires to the factory knock-off wheels making the car driveable.

I DO have a gold chain with a lavaliere of my initials that was worn daily at the disco I worked at in the 1970-72 summers (in the SD box for my daughter along with my Beatles concert tickets, etc.) . As for the shoes, I have a black pair, but not sure what brand, but I will be glad to check!

    Cheers!

Here's the '72 in '72 and in '91 after I "refreshed" it when I learned it was one of 81. LOTS more hair in '72:

Thanks for all the "likes" guys. Buicks have been a part of my life since I was 20, and I love every minute of it. I am still with GM, just moved on to a "smaller" version.

    Cheers!

Man I miss that car. Hopefully mine will come out identical, except white top and gut.
