I can't get the factory stock video to play.
Is anyone else having luck with it? I've watched the F.A.S.T. video a couple times with no problem.
Terry, you sure that was a redlight, or a tree malfunction???? I don't think that was a redlight, but?????.........:Do No: Especially considering some of the other goofy stuff that happened with the tree/scoreboard during other runs. One of the 11.70 cars on one pass went 190mph.

Can't play these on my iPhone. That's my only real complaint with the iPhone, no Flash player.

Oh well, have to wait till I get home to watch. Thanks for sharing!!

Here is the link to Factory Stock if you haven't discovered it on the host site yet. It's very large, 40 minutes and almost 500MB so please be patient and let the page load and buffer. The host site wouldn't transcode it to flash (too big), this one is WMV only.

    Video--> http://tinyurl.com/klu4ro

If you are having problems viewing the video on the page or just wish to save the file to your machine you can left click on the gray "files and links" drop down box that is on the lower right side of the page. After the box opens right click on the "right click save" option for the middle (Windows Media) link.

DVD's of this video coverage are available for $15.00 shipping included, you can P.M. me here, email me at rumblevid.hu@gmail.com, or give me a call at 517-256-9122 if interested.

    Thanks,

John ...Thanks for the posting. One thing about racing is that I can't watch the races. I watched the whole thing...goood job! Jim

Said it before, will say it again. This the most fun racing I've ever done and now seen....both in person and on this link to rumble vid. That sure is a super job by Rusty in the tower...don't get to see much when you're competing, but what a show for spectating.

Really great to see Ted Harbitt with full headdress and warpaint so soon after the scary accident with Chicken Hawk....awesome.

Old farts like me that grew up on the streets with 4 speeds really eat this up as it's so close to the way we drove these things everyday years ago. There really is nothing as much fun as a 4 speed car, even though not as fast and a real trick to launch. You just don't see many 4 speed cars or head to head racing at a bracket race...this is awesome even not participating...

The allowable exhaust changes really help the spectators as much as the cars themselves..Donny Brass wins that contest hands down with the side pipes.

BTW, the A/C in my truck felt pretty good watching all this, too. The video let me hear Rusty and the camera work and video take it to another level.

Hope to have my car ready for Stanton, but will be there in the stands even if not.

Dave remember when the ONLY way to drag race was with a 4 speed. Die hard guys wouldn't be caught dead with an automatic. That was for little old ladies........really! I had a spectator come up to me in the pits at Martin and said watching me shift was like watching me wrestle a raccoon in the car. I guess I use a little body english when I power shift. :Do No: I missed some shifts :error: (the gear box is all new inside and still breaking it in...... so to speak ) but when you get a perfect run in and smack those shifts just right, OMG there is nothing else like it.:TU: That's something the auto boys will never experience.

I fully expect we'll see you running at Stanton, banging gears and laughing yourself silly!

    Well put Thomas !

While I do like them all, stick shift cars are the ones for me!!!

It's so damn exciting that at the end of the quarter mile I feel like lighting up a cigarette... And I don't smoke!

Back in 87' my friend asked me what I thought the hottest car on the market was.My response of course was the Buick "Grand National". Two weeks later ,he picks me up in one. He gets a job transfer to Houston for Compaq Computer, and I go to visit him. He let's me have free reign of the car all day while he's at work, and tells me to enjoy myself:Brow: That car was great!!!!! It did everything well, but there was something missing?

It was then that I realized that not only did I miss shifting gears, but the car was whisper quiet, with a whooosh, when you got on it. I thought that his car was great, but it was there that I realized that I missed the sound of carburetion, harmonizing with the bellow of exhaust, topped off with rowing the gears, that produced the ever so sweet force of acceleration. That's what did it for me!

Oh..... and it has to be an American V8.Just the right sound if you know what I mean.

I recall the old Hurst Shifter slogan that said "Shift as hard as you want, but don't break your arm". Someone from the stands saw me a little angry with my car bogging big time at the line. Said I almost ripped the shifter out of the floor on the one-two...Guess maybe too much body english or too much body....

Peg, I went through countless old 3 speed transmissions in my old Fords and Pontiacs. Just about when I thought I had it down right...oops...it would either jam or blow another transmission. We carried a spare in the trunk of my 52 for quite a few years. $10 to $25 in most junkyards and they were full of them back then.

On my 59 Pontiac, I noticed it had a crack in the column sleeve that held the stick. That quickly resulted in a total split. Had to replace that. On the 61, I bent the lever about 4 inches upward in a speed shift. Second gear was almost 12 o'clock straight up and 3rd was about at at 3...Was afraid it would break off so left it that way until I converted to a Hurst. That was sweet.

My 65 442 conv had a top loader 3 speed in it for a while. That was really neat, but was like a 4 speed w/o second gear. Heavy as a tank, but I understand indestructible. I heard the roundy-round boys liked those trannies.

This year is my 53rd year of drag racing, hope last year wasn't my last. BTW, I won that 1st one with a 3 on the tree 56 Ford wagon...:bglasses:
